STAMP CONCRETE

DESCRIPTION

Stamped concrete overlays is a process of applying a polymer modified concrete coating to a sound surface and texturing the coating by applying a stamp. The main goal of stamp overlayment is to make the surface look like stone, bricks, wood slats, etc. depending on the stamp that is chosen.

PREPARATION

The original surface is made sound through varies means from pressure washing to acid etching to shot-blasting. After the surface is dry and sound any repairing of cracks or damages will be attended too. It should be noted that this preparation process could go on for many days due its extreme importance to the longevity of the coating and the quality of the end product.

APPLICATION

Tyson's Inc. applies this product to the prepared surface at a depth of 1/4" to 1/2" depending on the type of stamp that is requested. After the coating is applied the texturing and coloring process begins. Coloring of the coating can be done through two different means, one is acid staining and the other is through a colored release. Note that the coloring action is not an exact science, there are many different variables that play a part in determining color and that the color may not match in total, however, difference in color usually lead to a more realistic coating. The last detail is the clear coat which help give the coating more luster and durability. The clear coat maybe need to be re-applied every 3 years depending on weather conditions. The entire application process can take many days or even weeks depending on size and weather conditions.
